I got wowed!

Today I received a package that I had ordered from Kirsty Dunphey.

It cost nothing to address it to me with the title as "The Awesome..." but it made me feel like a million dollars (is that how she got her first million by the time she was 23?).

They also included a mobile phone sock & a CD, but it was the title that made this package memorable.

It made me think how I can make my clients feel extra special ...

Donating money to charity

I received a phone call from a person who works for a large charity and wanted some help with their tele-marketing script.

Personally, I have trouble with giving money to a charity where a significant portion is used to pay the collector.

For instance, If I donate $20 based on a phone call, and the telemarketer is paid $17 per hour, and only makes 1 sale an hour, then the charity isn't getting much out of it. By the time other overheads are taken into account, the charity is making even less.

I would've thought that there would be enough goodwill to do some smarter marketing, especially through corporate sponsors.

Imagine a corporate that offers some of their telemarketing capability to get donations for a charity, & then donates all of that money to the charity.

Qaulity solutions

I recently saw a sign at a seminar advertising a company that specialised in "Qaulity Solutions".

Ok, I don't profess to be great with spelling or grammar, but if you're advertising quality, make sure that what you say & do is consistent with your brand.

It might mean getting collateral professionally proofed. Yes, it will cost money, but it's worth the cost through extra business.

Having said that, you can often use the spelling error as an attention grabber - just make sure you mention that the error is intentional.

Give to get - Increasing ad revenue

"You can have everything you want if you just help enough other people get what they want". Zig Ziglar

I used to think of Google's ads as invasive and easily ignored, until I placed them on my own web page. I began to understand how they are able to personalise and target relevant ads to the viewer.

When I understood this, I started clicking on ads and coming across some new sites that were interesting and relevant (and not all of them were trying to take my money!).

Obviously I didn't click on my own ads as this isn't allowed. But an interesting thing started happening. The clicks on my own site went up and I was reminded of Zig's quote above - maybe it is true - by helping others get what they want I get more of what I want!

Get dancing at your next networking event

Do you give away business cards at networking events, but want to meet more people that you can do business with?

Take a "dance card" along to an event with you. Choose how many spots you want to fill and enter your available times on the card. As you meet people & make appointments, cross out that "dance" and find a partner for the next one.

Share the idea with others and before you know it everyone will be wanting to fill in their "dance cards".

Work out what you do that makes the money

Where does your money come from?

What is the activity that brings you money in the door?

Sound simple? It is. If you know what you need to do right now that will earn you money - do it!

Unfortunately we all get caught up doing the unimportant stuff, but if you know what to do each day, each hour or each week that will increase your income, you can focus better.

The activity might be:
  • 3 selling appointments each day

  • 10 phone calls each hour

  • Writing 1 chapter each week

  • Delivering a presentation each day

  • Entering 1 page of data each hour

Get focused and get earning!

Do the work others hate to do

People are prepared to pay good money to avoid doing the work they hate.

This could be house cleaning, picking up doggy doo, mowing lawns, going shopping, washing cars, cleaning windows, ironing, computer maintenance, dog walking, rabbit hutch cleaning, house painting, washing, commercial cleaning... the list is endless.

If you are looking for pocket money ideas or even a full time job, have a look around and ask people what they don't like doing and you could uncover a gold mine!

Whats up here?

Hi,

I'm Tony and I come up with more orginal ideas than I know what to do with.

Often they're marketing or product ideas and they'll usually make money in the right hands.

Unfortunately I don't have the time or resources to make money out of them myself, so I thought I would put them on the net so they will get used and make someone rich. Who knows, they might even mention me in their "now I'm rich and famous speech".

Each week I'll come up with at least one new tip for TIP (Tony's Ideas Page).
